The first thing you need to know is that there are six countries for you to place your characters in. These countries each have differing cultures with you can read about in detail HERE. But in order to not overwhelm you I have put together a few helpful pieces of info about each of them.
Basic:
Surí - A female dominated society with most being an avian species. Very much state-run, rigid laws concerning divorce and abortion. Less rights for men than for women.
Emorf - A caste society where lions are at the top. In Emorf lions are the only ones with any real protection or power.
Loujire - Heavily male dominated where corvine's and equine's live. The women of this country have almost no rights, they can't work in most places and are simply expected to marry and stay home with any children they may bear.
Figip - A once great country now fallen in power and glory. Citizens of Figip are bears, marsupials or raccoons.
Wepona - The country of sights and elegance. Canine's believe their first rulers, King Khambrel and Queen Dorintea to be gods.
Avarn - The only democratic country which spawned from a revolution against Figip a century ago. Avarn welcomes all.
