The government of Avarn is unique on the continent of Taloren as Avarn is the only country whose rulers are not chosen by virtue of who your parents are. A representative democracy, Avarn is run by the people. The people vote for their President and the senate that assist in the lawmaking. Elections for the President and the Senate are separate. The Senate is elected every three years and the President is elected every four years. Second in the running for President becomes Vice-President. There are usually upwards of three people running for President. Presidential candidates are independent of parties though they may be affiliated.

The economy of Avarn is based upon the individual. The economy is not regulated by the government and it operates on supply and demand. There are always new businesses cropping up, with the ambition to make it big.
Education:
The education of children in Avarn is required but viewed as unimportant by the wider Avish society. As a result schools do not get much funding and most are government run. Boarding schools are unpopular in Avarn aside from one large and prestigious school on Heart Island which accepts students from all of the countries but nonetheless mostly consists of the children of rich Avish business people and politicians. Homeschooling is not very common but is an option.
Family Structure:
Avarn is a firm believer in the nuclear family. When the Avish think of family what immediately comes to mind is a husband and wife with their two children, a boy and a girl. While many families in Avarn look very different this is the picture that persists both in and out of the country.
Marriage:
Avish marriages are well-decorated fancy affairs and most people will go all out for their weddings. Divorce is seen as exceptionally unfortunate. It is still there and fairly easy to obtain but it isn’t common. Surnames in Avarn are very variable. One partner may lose their surname in favour of the others, they may both keep their surname or combine it with a hyphen or simply smash it together. Children will inherit some combination of whatever their parents had decided to do.
Children:
In Avarn children have the reputation of being rebellious and difficult to handle. Children and teenagers are seen as two clearly defined categories where children are watched very closely and teenagers are given plenty of freedom to roam.
Language: Avish
The Avish language is directly related to the Figish language as it descended from it. Filled with simple consonants, Avish also borrows elements from Emish as it has strict patterns to follow.

Unwanted Children: Children left with no family become the responsibility of the child-care system. These children may be placed with a foster family or in a group home to be looked after. When it comes to adoption the process is expensive and fairly lengthy, especially if you are not adopting through an organization. Most people when they wish to adopt find an organization already with connections to the child-care system; these pre-existing connections smoothens the adoption process. Avarn is a place protective of its children but aloof towards its teenagers, believing them capable of taking care of themselves.
